You are forgiven if you have no idea what this is. It’s one of my bookshelves here on the boat, and that strange man’s face looming about is from the cover of a book of photographer Paul Strand’s work. And as Annie suggested in the comments on the previous polaroid: I shall not quit my day job. promise.

Have a fabulous weekend everybody!

P.S. Check out this incredible illustration piece on Corine’s blog.

P.P.S. Jools, who lives in Brisbane, Australia has been inspired by my soundscapes and wanders and has been posting her daily walks on her blog called passion pages, for the past week. Her walks are breathtaking – she lives in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia, go and take a look. And notice the footwear on a winter’s day – thongs! I can’t even wear my flip flops here and it’s summer.

P.P.P.S just when you thought I had run out of P.S’s… check out this fabulous photo Taryn sent me the other day – she is rockin’ with style, and it just goes to show that your wandering hearts can be found, and fashioned, in the most unlikely of places. Thanks Taryn!

I’ve been so inspired by fellow bloggers fabulous polaroids these past few months that I decided to give it a whirl myself…

…and this is pretty much the best result I’ve had out of 10. I mean, it is interesting, right? (!!) Abstract art even?

It really makes me appreciate how wonderfully talented these polaroiders are. How do they do it? I have no idea. But I do think polaroid and me, were just never meant to be.

Apparently it’s summer here in The Netherlands – the evidence of today’s outfit shows otherwise. It’s the first time I’ve had to wear tights, boots, and wool on a summer’s day! Hmm. Anyhoo, I thought it was worth a bit of show + tell. Even though I am in the business of making things look their best, that usually doesn’t include me. But on the occassion it does! And today was one of them. I am wearing my Aymara cashmere dress, and a long sleeve white organic cotton top, and one of Marie’s beautiful crochet necklaces – I think it works nicely, what do you think?

There are still so many submissions I have not yet viewed. Thank you all for your incredible patience. This morning I had a quick peek and found this one amongst all the amazing entries. It is another beauty from Maggie of 22 butterfly.

my kinda glam

glam.jpg

A little morning wander through the blogosphere found me these two images above from this is glamourous and coco + kelly. You know I am not a great fan of opulent rooms and ‘rich’ interiors – my style is more along the earthy, real and livable kind – creating rooms that are actually usable and cosy (you should hear me balk at mtv cribs – it’s apparently humorous to watch me watching this show, I just can’t believe people pretend to live in those places and try to get us, the viewers, to aspire to their pretend lives. nu-uh).

But it’s not like I don’t like shiny things. Because I do – especially like this entrance way and these stairs – I love combining old wood with sparkling things, I find it really brings out the texture and age, and sentimentality of the surroundings.

And that foyer is just cool. I have never been a huge fan of stained glass or shiny wall surfaces (my oma loved opulence – she mirrored her entire hallway and loved a chandelier or ten – and although it did have a ‘wow’ effect, it was more the sort of ‘wow, i suddenly feel a little sick’ effect.) But this entrance way makes me think that maybe one day, I could live with stained glass and reflective walls. Maybe.
