back to amsterdam…
Posted in (blog)house news, paris: made by hand June 12th, 2009 by piablog

apples on my window sill, perhaps I should make an apple pie today.

Now we’ve lingered in Paris this past week with sights, sounds and wanders, but its time to head back to Amsterdam because I have so much to tell you! I’m about a week behind on things I’ve been dying to chat to you about, and I’m debating as to whether I should tumble them all on you today, or be smart and sensible and write about each thing next week… I’m not sure I’m feeling too sensible. It’s Friday after all! Anyway, let’s see how far I get today.

Right now though, I do want to tell you that Yvette has done another drawing for us in the kitchen!! This time she invites us all to make a summer punch and it’s not only delicious, but beautifully illustrated. All you have to do is click on her image to have it bigger and then print it out and pop it into your recipe folder. Thank you Miss Yvette!

have you seen yvette’s new blog? here is a sneak peek, click here to check it out.

I also want to show you what popped into my inbox this week. It’s a fabulous photo from (blog)house reader Letisia who wanted to show me where her copy of the book is sitting in her home, take a look…

Isn’t it lovely? It totally enhanced my day. Thank you Letisia!

I love seeing little vignettes in people’s homes, and starring my book, well that is just wonderful! I still find it hard to grasp that the book is ‘out there’, you know. It was so much work and such a big part of my life for so long, and here it is now, bound and printed, out in the world.

I’m going to get cracking on some housework for now, but I’ll be back soon, so see you in a little while!

xx

I’m very excited to have my beautiful friend back in the country, she’s been gone a month and I’ve missed her lots. And I’m also excited to let you know she has a beautiful new guest post just for you, filled with gorgeous photos, right here in the guest quarters. It might even be my favourite so far… thank you riley!

dialogue…
Posted in (blog)house news, artists June 2nd, 2009 by piablog

It’s Tuesday!

Perhaps you didn’t need me to shout that out to you, but I find I need to remind myself of this after I’ve had a long weekend, otherwise I think it’s monday when it’s tuesday, wednesday when it’s thursday, and so it goes for the whole week. You know the consequences.

This week as I mentioned already, I will post about my weekend in Paris. But first, I want to let you know that my 4th appearance on design for mankind’s dialogue series is up and away!

This time I share the screen with artist Lisa Solomon, on the topic of niches. It will be my last one for a while as I have much on my plate at the moment, so please be sure to check it out and add your thoughts and comments to this week’s topic.

have you popped your head into the (blog)house guest quarters?

My dear friend Riley is traveling around the USA right now, hopping from state to state visiting family and friends. I miss her! But I’m very happy that she left me plenty of photos to post for you in the guest quarters, including fab photos of her recent trip to Paris. While there she stayed at her friend Juliette’s apartment which, as Riley described, is like ‘stepping into another time’. It’s so rare to get a sneek peak into such incredible Paris apartments. You can read more about this fab paris abode here, and click here to see Riley’s most recent post.

Thank you Riley, please come back to Amsterdam soon!

PS here’s a darling number from paris combo to get your toes tappin’ on this monday.

cooking up a storm with rhubarb and hangop
Posted in (blog)house news, food May 12th, 2009 by piablog

My dear friend Yvette is in da (blog)house kitchen this evening, cooking – and drawing – up a storm with rhubarb and a traditional Dutch dish called hangop. Now shock horror: I have never tasted hangop! I know, embarrassing. But Yvette just told me about it the other day and I was secretly wanting her to give me her secret recipe so I could make it. And she has! For you too! She is a sweetheart. Please welcome fabulous food stylist Yvette Van Boven back in the kitchen (click here to read her full post with photo and recipe).

encore merci ma chère Yvette!
