this book. it was on sale in a great art bookstore that i just discovered near the concert gebouw.

it’s monday afternoon, and although i have a list as long as my arm, i’m very tempted to make a cup of tea and sit outside on le petit deck of le petit bateau, leisurely turning the pages of my new treasure until the sun goes down.

somebody stop me.

In less than two weeks time, I will be signing copies of Paris: Made By Hand. I’m very excited. The event will be held at The Spui, right here in Amsterdam on June 27 as part of a great event called Urban Culture organised by The American Book Center.

It’s going to be heaps of fun – there will be lots of great stalls and workshops going on in the square, all in celebration of the handmade, do-it yourself movement. I am also excited to tell you that I will be styling one of the American Book Center’s windows, especially for the event! I will include lots of great books in my display, and some fabulous creations too. To find out more about the event, and to see who else is participating, please click here. I will be signing books between 1-6pm, and I do hope to see you…

blog favourites on friday…
Posted in blog favourites June 12th, 2009 by piablog

It occurred to me today that I haven’t done a blog favourites post for a while. Mainly because I have the ‘blogs in the spotlight’ widget to the right there (have you seen it?) where I feature favourite blogs I’m reading weekly. But today I decided to gather some of the images from the current faves in the spotlight, just to show you what they are up to and why I’m loving them.

Featured this week is…

the style files
ann wood
under a paper moon
the design files

and

unruly things.

I hope you like my little collage above, and please be sure to click on all the links as each will whisk you away to an ever inspiring place. Enjoy!

xx

PS big news up next! (well, it’s big for me)

back to amsterdam…
Posted in (blog)house news, paris: made by hand June 12th, 2009 by piablog

apples on my window sill, perhaps I should make an apple pie today.

Now we’ve lingered in Paris this past week with sights, sounds and wanders, but its time to head back to Amsterdam because I have so much to tell you! I’m about a week behind on things I’ve been dying to chat to you about, and I’m debating as to whether I should tumble them all on you today, or be smart and sensible and write about each thing next week… I’m not sure I’m feeling too sensible. It’s Friday after all! Anyway, let’s see how far I get today.

Right now though, I do want to tell you that Yvette has done another drawing for us in the kitchen!! This time she invites us all to make a summer punch and it’s not only delicious, but beautifully illustrated. All you have to do is click on her image to have it bigger and then print it out and pop it into your recipe folder. Thank you Miss Yvette!

have you seen yvette’s new blog? here is a sneak peek, click here to check it out.

I also want to show you what popped into my inbox this week. It’s a fabulous photo from (blog)house reader Letisia who wanted to show me where her copy of the book is sitting in her home, take a look…

Isn’t it lovely? It totally enhanced my day. Thank you Letisia!

I love seeing little vignettes in people’s homes, and starring my book, well that is just wonderful! I still find it hard to grasp that the book is ‘out there’, you know. It was so much work and such a big part of my life for so long, and here it is now, bound and printed, out in the world.

I’m going to get cracking on some housework for now, but I’ll be back soon, so see you in a little while!

paris soundscape, series 4, final: spring love…
Posted in paris, pia's photos, soundscapes June 11th, 2009 by piablog

There is always romance in the air in Paris, but in Spring, romance and love seems to envelope the whole city more than ever. I adore Paris in the Spring time – I moved to Paris in the Spring, I fell in love in the Spring, and it seems I keep coming back in the Spring. Perhaps I’m addicted to the romance…

So for this final soundscape for the series, its all about Spring love in Paris – a collection of photos taken while wandering the streets of the city in Spring, along with a soundscape captured while strolling at dusk with French Boy through St Germain the other Saturday night, stopping in at Taschen (which was still open at 10pm!), and then wandering around the corner, hand in hand, to find an old dude singing I can’t believe you’re in love with me, dressed in berret and suspenders. so. ro. man. tic.

The sound quality of this one is very poor unfortunately, but I rather like the 1920’s feel of it, and I hope you will still enjoy it. So, please take it away, monsieur
