baileys, of course!

I just had to start this special nesting series by taking you straight to baileys newly renovated website, complete with an illustrated layout of the store, information and beautiful photographs of their art cafe, and of course, the book. Which I reviewed way back when. and which I still love flicking through for inspiration. I love Mark and Sally’s rustic yet utterly sophisticated style. It’s recycled living, at it’s best.

I hope to be able to visit their incredible store in Whitecross Farm in the UK one day. If you’ve been, do let me know what it’s like in a comment below!

isn’t it beautiful? I am captivated by this photograph, taken by San Fransisco-based photographer Leslie Sophia Lindell. The house is situated on the sand at Stinson Beach, facing the Pacific Ocean on the Northern California coast. Perusing Leslie’s portfolio and flickr sets have kept me busy for well over an hour now, I have found so many gorgeous images. I’ve been tempted to show you all of them right here but then i would become the ‘leslie lindell blog’! Instead, go and visit her own blog here, her flickr set here, and her professional portfolio here. For now, I give you just one more…

…and I’ll be telling you more about the lovely Leslie and posting about something else fabulous that she has going on, in just a moment.

the white house: daylesford
Posted in australia, interiors February 13th, 2009 by piablog

It’s Friday afternoon. Time to escape for the weekend. But where? Follow me. I have JUST the place for us. It’s tranquil. It’s über stylish and filled with the most gorgeous vintage furniture. Like 1930’s club chairs. And clawfoot baths. And chandeliers from France. There are open fireplaces. And a private garden. And yes, there are hand-painted wallpapers by Deborah Bowness. Welcome mes chers amis, to The White House in Daylesford, Australia…

The White House is an 1850’s brick miners cottage, newly reburbished with interiors and design by none other than our favourite vintage collector whom I featured just the other day – Ms. Lyn Gardener...

Lyn has filled the house with all her favorite vintage pieces. Every room in this house screams sophistication but is loose and natural, making you feel welcome and rested. Yes, I can see myself lounging about in here and never wanting to leave…

My knees are weak and I feel giddy. Are you feeling the same? and then, as if those visuals weren’t enough, there is the garden studio…

Lyn’s White House is in walking distance from the convent gallery, sunday market, vincent street, botanical gardens and daylesford lake. and it’s only a short drive to Hepburn Springs and Spa. For those of you who don’t know this area, basically this means it’s in the centre of heaven.

and. and? yes, AND! the best news of all is that Lyn created this incredible space just. for. you. and me! And, well, who else would like to join us on a glorious weekend retreat? It would make the perfect blogging girls weekend away.

Thank you Lyn for sharing your new project with me. I will certainly be visiting when I am back in Australia – so book me in sweet Lyn!! Hmm, at this rate it looks like I’ll be taking a little road trip from Sydney to Daylesford, then Melbourne, and onto Rodney and Severine’s Agrarian Kitchen in Tasmania. Wow, I can’t wait for this!

xx

PS Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Have a wonderful day, whatever you get up to. I’ll see you on Monday with some more visual treats. I’m thinking I should make time to go through my photos of my last trip to Sydney – my tan has faded but my memories have not. Shall we do that next week? Shall we see what I got up to in Sydney last month?

PPS I really don’t know what to make for dinner tonight. Any suggestions?

wallpaper love

I’ve been researching wallpapers for inspiration for an upcoming shoot and I just can’t go past Deborah Bowness’ incredible collection. The two featured above have captivated me so. They are from her wallpaper kits range. I adore birdcages in any interior setting don’t you? But I don’t like real birds inside them unless they get to fly freely around the house, like this gorgeous macauw! Click here for stockists.

xx

PS I have something fabulous lined up for you this afternoon. Shall I give you a little hint? Okay, its a house. A rather glorious house. That features one of Deborah’s wallpapers.

a favourite phrase and image…

…from my portfolio, polardoided. I remember writing the text for this image after looking at it for some time and remembering the feeling of being in there, styling it up, getting it ready for the photographer. The room was just so tranquil and nurturing and I thought, hmm, this is just how a bedroom should be – simple, warm, nurturing – a place where you can take a deep breath and feel instantly calmed.

PS read the new comments on the poladroid post – PC users will be happy – thank you for letting us know Nicole and Irene!
