Are you wondering where I am?

Me too. Although I am sitting right here at my desk, surrounded by numerous cascading piles of papers and books, with props scattered from one end of the boat to the other in need of serious attention, and dishes piling up on the kitchen counter top.

My head however, is far far away. Where exactly, I do not know. Perhaps you have seen it around? If so, can you send it back to me? Cheers.

a piece of brilliant literature

Remember a couple of weeks ago I was telling you about the book I had just started reading?

Well, sadly, I have finished it. And I reiterate, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is the most inspiring book I have read this year. Every single page is a literary piece of perfection in it’s own right.

I am so intrigued to visit Guernsey now – I want to walk along the clifftops like Juliet Ashton, I want to stand in a place where I can imagine her and Dawsey Adams having their moment. I want to see stone cottages dotted around the island, and wander along the shoreline skipping stones like Kit and breathing in the sea air. I want to find myself a little cottage by the seaside to write my own literary masterpiece.

The author Mary Shaffer, had a life-long dream to “write a book that someone would like enough to publish.” She did not live to see her dream come true as she passed away earlier this year. But if she were alive, I would write her a personal letter to tell her how much I enjoyed it.

Fabulous read, go get yourself a copy pronto if you haven’t already.

PS I have just started reading the so far hilarious My ‘Dam Life by fellow Australian + once upon a time Amsterdammer, Sean Condon. I’m up to page 37 and I have laughed out loud at least once per page thus far. I’m not sure it’s safe to admit that I actually relate to this guy and his crazy antics, but it’s the truth. And I’m all over that.

PPS I am about to add new books to the library in a few moments, so don’t forget to check’em out!

Pretty lame title I realise, but I’m sure once the week continues I will get wittier (let’s hope so anyway).

How have you been?

What have you been up to this weekend?

Thank you to everyone who took the time to listen to my little musical blog debut! I loved receiving your comments over the weekend. I am looking forward to recording more and launching each tune right here on the blog, I do hope you like this idea. And maybe I can put together a little album, recorded live on the houseboat. Would that be a bit of fun?

Today I am cleaning and organising – the boat is a mess as I have been on a shoot all weekend, finishing up yesterday. After lugging (the most dreaded part of the job) my props to and from the location, I find myself rather pooped today, and in need of a long yoga session. But oh how I am looking forward to showing you the story! We will all have to wait until it is published in a month or so.

These images are from my photo library – I shot them on film a few years back, in Sydney, with my Canon AE-1. Unfortunately that last one got chopped a bit at the bottom from bad scanning (I have no one to blame but myself). I thought you might like these to start off the week, nice and calm, cool and collected.

Toodaloo for now,

xx

and it goes a little something like this…

So, here we all are. In le petit bateau. With me. Hmm. Has everyone got a drink? Is everyone comfortable? I suppose you just want me to get on with it, right?

Please click on the flower button below which is currently loading, to hear my first ever piano solo composition, accompanied by one of my little whimisical drawings. This piece is called Mes Ailes. Which is French for ‘My Wings’. I do hope you enjoy. Thank you in advance, for lending me your ears for the next 3 minutes…
