Grab your hat and favourite book. Roll up your jeans and come sit down next to me on the sand. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and listen. Enjoy…
[audio:http://archives.piajanebijkerk.com/audio/Bay.mp3]Nearly two weeks has passed since I returned from my brief, unanticipated trip back to Sydney.
And it’s only now I’ve had a moment to look at my photos, soundscapes, and diary notes from my time there. Over the next coming days I will be sharing these with you, with the hope to be able to communicate a little of my quietly chaotic sydney life through a series of moments – both silent and sounded. Next week I will continue with my regular posts about current things I am loving, things I’ve been up to while back in Amsterdam (it’s been a very busy couple of weeks!), plus getting the guest quarters ready for our next guest. And I’ll also be letting you know where we are at with the much anticipated My Heart Wanders.
But for now, let’s get geared up for our third series of soundscapes by first taking a road trip to our sound-filled destination…
Holly from Decor 8 wrote a post the other day suggesting bloggers post about the music they are currently listening to, and it reminded me that I haven’t done so for a while. So here is what I am listening to now, Songs for Tibet, with beautiful ballades from a nice slice of my favourite artists like Joan Armitrading, Imogen Heap, and Dave Matthews. Funds raised from the album go to support peace initiatives as well as Tibetan cultural preservation projects important to the Dalai Lama. It is music to my ears.
It’s called The Farm Project, designed by Mike Meiré. With concept phrases like “…‘orchestrated chaos’ bringing beauty to mundane objects within the context of a nourishing environment…” and “…embrace the richness of life that minimalism had taken away…â€, I’m a hooked fish.
Would you come visit me if I were this kitchen?
It’s an interesting concept that was photographed last year for Wallpaper magazine, worth more of a look-see – you can follow my path of discovery by reading about it on the fabuloso Inhabitat, watching it here and seeing more photos here.
