From mysterious tropical islands to the golden quarter of vintage-chic boutiques in Paris… here in the (blog)house you know I like to take you with me everywhere I go. And since it’s been a busy week for all of us, I think we all need a Friday afternoon treat. This time I am taking you to one of my favourite little finds in the maze-like backstreets of Le Marais…
I am in deadline mode again, writing an article for a travel magazine on one of my favourite places in the world. But I’ve just come to say hello while I take a tea break. And to confess: after all the research, writing and reminiscing on the memories of this beautiful island, I want to pack my bag and go back there right NOW. I figure, if I have to suffer the heartache of reviewing and writing about this magnificent place while it is cold, windy and dark outside, then you can suffer with me too. So although I can’t tell you where it is yet, I can show you a glimpse of where my heart has wandered off to today…

now back to work. sigh.
i couldn’t help but put another little collection together to get you further enthused and inspired about the project, this time with some drawings and images that were made in honour of my heart wanders – these beautiful bloggers created these works as a way of introducing the project to their readers, I absolutely love them…
top four images by jen from a girl and her polaroid, on the left is a drawing by esti from píntame el día, and on the right is one by anna from absolutely beautiful things.
The judging panel have made their selection and I have posted them in the artist studio, go and take a look! Thank you to everyone who made the plunge and submitted in this first phase – it is you who have created the direction and style of what the book will be, I hope you are very proud. And congratulations to all those who have made this first selection. If you made a submission but your work was not chosen I ask you not to be disheartened. This project is not a competition. Just see this first selection as a clearer direction of what we are looking for, use this first selection as inspiration. I would like to encourage EVERYONE who has already entered to enter again as well as all new readers to think about a submission and to spread the word amongst your own readers and friends. So, regardless of whether you made the first selection or not – there are so many tiny subtle wandering hearts out there and it is up to your artistic abilities to capture them in the act!
The deadline for all submissions is June 15, 2008. So get cracking, spread the word, get your friends involved, and lets make this book something spectacular.

I had the pleasure of meeting a fabulous fellow blogger in the flesh for the first time on Friday night. Danielle from The Style Files and I finally got a chance to get together for some champagne and bitterballen in Amsterdam, it was such a fun night, we have alot in common so we were busy chatting the whole night through. Danielle is as inspiring in real life as she is on her blog and I am looking forward to our next outing together, thanks again Danielle for a wonderful evening!
In other news, I have some fantastic posts lined up for this week, including taking you with me on an exclusive tour through one of the most gorgeous little boutiques in Paris that I happened to photograph last year for a story – I’ve noticed you are all crazy about a certain fashion label and I know just where to find it in Paris. I also have an exquisite new jewellery line to showcase, and although the designer is not new to the fashion industry, this will be her very first debut in the blogosphere. And next up: the judging panel for My Heart Wanders have been busy making their selections this weekend and I’m about to reveal the first round of submissions so stay tuned!
