You are about to notice a 48 hour lapse in my posts starting from now. Why? Because I’m in transit. There has been no time to organise guest bloggers. There has not even been time to say pollypickedapocketfullofpoppiesforherpuppy. I have needed to make a swift change of plans which I will fill you in on the details once at my destination. I hope you don’t mind that you will all be coming with me.

So there’s no time to dawdle: just grab your toothbrush, grab your bagel, blow everyone a kiss and get moving! I promise to fill you in on our whereabouts once there. In the meantime, I shall leave you with my second drawing of Miss Harriet.

xx

PS. oh I meant to do the proper blog thing and say “meanwhile, feel free to leaf through my blog archives”. When will I get this thing right?

The other night I was watching Taratata on France 4 (TV5 overseas) and for those of you who don’t know this show, it is the French music show of all music shows. It’s closest equivalent would be the Jools Holland show in the UK . Anyway, it’s very popular and showcases all the big names in the music industry worldwide right alongside upcoming artists. It’s a funny mix on the show, and I love that Lenny Kravitz walks off stage and 2 seconds later a not so known band starts up. The bands are often asked to co-perform, playing a cover that they both like. Anyway, the other night a particular performance took my breath away. I have not stopped thinking about it and I wanted to share it here with you. It was a cover of The Beetles We Can Work It Out by Israeli singer Noa, and her Palestinian singer/friend Mira Awad.

The energy of these two women is intense and incredibly beautiful, check out the video of the performance that I saw here.

Yep, this is my new passion – drawing little creatures in my photographs and making little stories out of them. I have a feeling you will be seeing more of these in the near future. Have a fabulous weekend!

Sydney photographer Jamie Williams is one of my favourites – he photographs all the Tibetan events back home and beyond, and has a way of capturing the moment perfectly. I will be featuring more of Jamie’s work soon, but for now I just wanted to show you this one which I love. It is available as a card too, and I bought a set of them a while back for birthdays and special occasions. This image is titled Enlightenment. He also shoots such events like Australian Fashion Week, and various festivals. Check out his flickr set here.

finally, i can show you something i’ve been waiting patiently for…

This special documentary created by Australian Lara Damiani, was guided by her burning passion for human rights, social justice and freedom. Starting back in 2006 and funded through personal cash and bank finance, Lara decided it was time to begin filming. Her subject matter just happens to be something close to my heart: The plight of Tibet and the Tibetans.

But unable to secure finance for post production, the project stalled a little while ago until a generous donor unexpectedly came to the rescue. As Lara says, “It’s a perfect example of what can be achieved when people who really believe in something come together”. Please give a large round of applause for Lara as I introduce you to her film “Tibet’s Cry for Freedom”, with this exclusive trailer, narrated by actress Kerri Armstrong…

Congratulations Lara, this looks to be a fantastic production, I can’t wait to see it! For more information, please visit Lara’s site here.
