i’m back on the thalys train tonight to Paris and will be there for the next two weeks working on a rather wonderful and intense project. i contemplated asking for a guest blogger or two like the professional bloggers do, it looks so impressive, but i actually have no idea how that works, unfortunately i’m not that advanced yet. and i didnt get organised enough to get posts ready ahead of time. so instead i am just taking you with me! Which means for the next two weeks the blog will be a little different – there won’t be the long posts like usual but instead i will be taking a photo of paris everyday for you, where ever i might be and perhaps whoever i might meet. how does that sound? Hope you like the idea.

Here is one to start us off, from my Summer ’07 Paris collection, starring my lovely friends Beve, her beautiful sister Natasha, and the fabulous Romain. Of course this photo needs a soundtrack, so here it is, thanks madeleine..

Will you be in Paris this weekend?

I won’t (boohoo!). But if I were in Paris this weekend I would be going straight here for this very exclusive, and very delicious event that combines our two favourite things in life: design and food…

ensemble à thé designed by Anne Xiradakis

Café éphémère is a rather special exhibition. Curated by designer Anne Xiradakis, it is an experimental space that moves around the world, and this time it is to be hosted in the apartment of French artist Guillaume Hillairet. You are invited to sit and dine at the guest table where Anne has created a tantalizing petit menu, all served within beautiful ceramic ware that she has designed specifically for the occassion. All her pieces are available for purchase during the event.

It is open today (Friday April 4), Saturday April 5, and Sunday April 6 from 2pm to 8pm. It costs only 5€ and you can call Anne on 06 63 06 83 11 to find out more and to make a reservation. Check out more about Café éphémère here at Anne’s blog (its all in French but you get the gist).

I am already salivating at the thought of how cool this is. Aren’t you curious as to what is on this petit menu? Well I have featured the Café éphémère Paris menu in the (blog)house kitchen as menu quatre. Click here to check it out!

Friday afternoon treat in Paris

From mysterious tropical islands to the golden quarter of vintage-chic boutiques in Paris… here in the (blog)house you know I like to take you with me everywhere I go. And since it’s been a busy week for all of us, I think we all need a Friday afternoon treat. This time I am taking you to one of my favourite little finds in the maze-like backstreets of Le Marais

I often wonder what life was like for the people who lived in Paris a couple of centuries ago. Did they see the same things that I see today? Did they look down at the same cobblestones? Well, have a look at these to find out…

La rue Soufflot in 1850…

And today, 158 years later…

Le Carrefour de l’Odéon in 1850..

And today, with the looming Montparnasse tower in the background…
