It’s raining buckets here in Amsterdam this morning. The lack of sunlight makes my little boat dark, but oh so cozy.
On Saturday I received the latest (september) issue of Australian Home Beautiful. It is always a real treat to receive a little slice of Australia through my front door mail slot all the way over in this part of the world. But this particular issue of Home Beautiful is extra special, take a look…
A big thank you to Vanessa Keys for asking me to be a part of Home Beautiful’s style insight section in this month’s issue. The article is so beautifully written, and I love the little “guide to unearthing the handmade in your own city” at the end.
+To view the article in full, I suggest you buy the September issue of Home Beautiful… but also, you can click here.
+All images in the article are by photographer David Finato and me.

I’d also like to direct you to a very special giveaway that dutch designer mariska meijers is holding on her blog this week: Mariska is offering a signed copy of Amsterdam: Made by Hand, read all about it right here. Thank you so much for your support Mariska. x
Wow, what a great feature Pia – it’s been done beautifully. I’m going to go buy the mag this week so that I can look at it properly and check out your charming little house boat.

Hello Pia,
Just to let you know that I got your ‘Amsterdam made by hand’ book from Selfriges store in London, and totally love it. I consider this city to be one of the best in Europe, and being thinking of moving there, I am hoping to come back soon, possibly when the ateliers open days are on, I may email to ask u about days and tips for design festival in the future, if you don’t mind. Keep up with the lovely work, and thank for the book, I am off to get the Paris one!!
Regards from sunny London
Marga

Pia this is great! Congratulations!!
I am running out to get my issue later this afternoon.
How on earth I could have missed that you live on a boat is beyond me! It was always a dream of mine when I lived in London – you know, to dock down at Chelsea wharf or somewhere.. Like Bear Grylls..! 🙂
Gorgeous! Congratulations!!
x Charlotta
P.S. Entered the give away of your ‘Amsterdam’ book over at Mariska’s. Am keeping fingers crossed! x

So amazing! I can’t even remember how I came across you (and it was only recently). However the fact that you live on a houseboat has me coming back and reading more. Living on a houseboat is on my list of things to do before I die and it’s so lovely getting wee peeks into yours.
Congratulations on the article. I’m going to see if I can find anyone in London who sells that magazine.

The colors in that first photo are stunning. I love the softness of the flowers with the wood and ceramic in the background.
August 25th, 2010 | #
After some dispute with newsagent, I ended up getting the magazine at the supermarket. Lovely feature – would still love a floor plan of your houseboat, to make sure my day dreams are accurate.
August 26th, 2010 | #
Oh, the peonies. I love the way you work with color.
August 27th, 2010 | #
Beautiful peak at your most lovely home… You certainly do have style,
take care, gwen

Back issues of this magazine are not available so the library was the next best thing! I was excited to pick up my reserved copy today only to find the pages were missing! Not happy!
