Have a wonderful, wonderful thanksgiving you darling Canadians. I am with you in spirit.

PS You may notice a piece of pumpkin pie just disappear with no possible explanation. I will confess now, it was me.

PPS check out this line up of pies featuring the one above over at Liberty Post’s, which she found over at the delectable Gourmet. Bliss. Heaven on a plate. Delicious. Mine.

PPPS yes I am fully aware that there is alot more to Thanksgiving than pumpkin pie. But really, is there though?

today’s etsy treats…

It’s rather mild here in Amsterdam today, I’d even go so far as to say “it is so pleasant, I could sit outside”… Quelle surprise! But today there is no time for dilly dallying with the tumbling leaves. However there is of course time to share with you my etsy favourites for this week which include…

…these hand stamped sentiments from The Vintage Pearl. This one is inspired by Project Runway. Love it!

The Laura Su dress by minnie and james. The dress is gorgeous and the photograph is perfect.

And I adore all these vintage Paris inspired tags from judy’s crafts.

Ok, back to work everyone! Thanks for stopping by for…

more fun (with fishing line this time)…

This is a shoot I did with Dutch photographer Ingmar Swalue. It is featuring a new Dutch jewellery range called MIR, and I wanted to create something ethereal and delicate, in a gothic way. Hmm, I know this sounds rather contradictory, but welcome to the art directing world, where every description contradicts the previous one (it’s quite an art really, that’s why they are called ‘art’ directors hehehe)…

So this was shot in Ingmar’s studio in Rotterdam, and he has these fabulous little windows that I could not resist using, I just adore the soft light and the old, peeling paint and framework. You may also notice I’m going through a feather phase? And also a fishing line & twine phase – I’m very much loving ‘exposed styling’ – you know, instead of hiding all the fishing line and gaffa tape I use, I like to make it part of my vignette. It’s been something I’ve been exploring for some time now.

Isn’t the MIR jewellery range divine? I do love it so.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! And thank you for all your beautiful comments through out the week. A few of you are still enjoying my mini piano concert I’ve noticed – thank you for letting me know, I’m so thrilled. And I will have a special treat for you next week! Until then, bon weekend!

I have been super slack in posting my styling work I know, and even slacker in updating my website and portfolio. But it seems that’s the last thing you make time for in this job, and I find it’s usually something I do at the end of the year when I have gathered all my tear sheets and articles. But today I do have a fun little story of images for you. It is a story that I produced some months back now with photographer David Finato (remember I wrote about him here and here?), with my picks of the coolest glassware around. It’s called Glass Act: take two (take one you will find here). I do hope you like…

I remember reading this ancient proverb somewhere when I was a kid and it sparked a lovely little luminous flame inside me. The flame has grown to a toasty warm fire over the years, and when I am looking for ways of best helping those who are suffering, I think of this phrase.

Next Wednesday, October 15 is this year’s Blog Action Day. And the topic? Poverty. In line with my philosophy that communication + education = solution, I’m thrilled to be a part of this great idea to bang our blogs together to stimulate awareness, conversation, and creativity about something that is in desperate need of our attention. If you’d like to join in with me, all you have to do is register your blog here and follow the guidelines. If you don’t have a blog, all you have to do is read our posts on the day and even better, comment! We each have a voice, as tiny as we think it is, when you join them all together I can tell you, a beautiful echo sounds across the airwaves and stimulates positive action.

So yeah, I’d love you guys to join in – the thought of all of us being creative and posting our thoughts and expressions about poverty for just one day makes my skin tingle and fills my heart with hope…
