pia reads: marie claire maison…

…another favourite magazine for me is marie claire maison. it’s full of inspiration and i love reading the stories. Somehow the french know how to whisk me away in the most romantic of ways, and marie claire maison does just that – taking me far away and then bringing me back with a bundle of new ideas for my own home projects.

I adore the selection of homes featured in each issue – marie claire maison finds the most incredible abodes, tucked away in the most remote parts of the world. This particular dwelling I’m sharing with you today is on a picturesque lake in Finland called Saimaa. The home is owned by Ritva Puotila (who makes exquisite textile installations). Furnished in the gentlest of ways with vintage and handmade Finnish furniture and textiles, Ritva’s home is breathtaking…

The article’s writer, Marion Bley, calls it a modern day summer home for the Robinson’s, with only the bare necessities – there is no electricity, and no hot water. There is however, a separate dwelling for bathing, which is down by the water’s edge…

Marion writes (something like this), “like the tableware, glassware and linen, the furniture, though sparse, has been chosen for it’s beauty and simplicity…”

booyah! (i don’t know if that’s how you write that word but hopefully you know what I mean)

How awesome is this dwelling? I mean, let’s just say we got lost on our way to our treehouse yesterday, and instead we stumbled across this place. Would we mind? No way! I’m all over this place. aaaaall over it.

The pattern is created by the über talented Alan The Gallant. And the image I found via the dear Nicole at 46th at grace.

tonight i will be dreaming about…

…living in a treehouse. again. I know, its as if living in un bateau isn’t interesting enough. But you know, it’s the ol’ grass is greener thing, right? I can just imagine lazing quietly about in such a place, reading a book while eavesdropping on the trees talking amongst themselves. the ultimate escape…

…………………………………………………………

the above beauties are from cherry coloured and country home magazine, who has even supplied a rather perfect menu for dining in a treehouse. pimm’s anyone?

…………………………………………………………

ooh i just realised that i wrote my first post about living in a treehouse exactly a year ago! how coincidental is that?! weird.

…………………………………………………………

actually that is really weird, non?

these prints, which are pretty gorgeous. And as Liberty Post says, they would look great in individual gilded frames. I’d also like them printed on card and pinned to my inspiration board. Thank you Liberty Post, you always find such wonderful treasures!

Next up, the results of one of my latest shoots.
