…at the dining table.
…at the kitchen sink.
…in a petit corner of our kitchen garden.
…by the window (these were a wonderful gift from a friend, to remind me to breathe during times of sheer exhaustion…like right now).
…standing at the dining table.
Well, I’m exhausted. I haven’t had a weekend since I don’t remember when and my nights sleep are short and erratic. When French Boy and I go to bed I can’t help but say “didn’t we just get out of bed like, 10 minutes ago?” when we eat dinner I say, “but didn’t we have breakfast just a moment ago?”. He laughs. I’m glad he thinks it’s funny! Anyway, I knew this month would be a big one to get through. I feel like Thomas the Tank Engine getting up the hill, be it the month of June “I think I can I think I can I know I can I know I can…”
Often people tell me they like to read my blog so they can live vicariously through me. (Apparently my goings-on are enviable?!! It’s time to dispel the myth!) But today, I’d like to hear what you are planning to do for the weekend so I can live vicariously through you. Please, indulge me…
xx
Driving from San Francisco to Sacramento to attend my Goddaughter’s 3rd birthday party. ๐ Yours posts are lovely. Congrats on the new book!

Have only just found your blog by chance. And, so happy to have found you! So charming it must be to live on the water with little ducks looking into your home. (this photo is impressed in my mind)
My weekend?…to learn how to knit a sock (laughs) much reading too, and of course to spend time with family and friends. Good day!

Congratulations on another book and all the amazing press! I spend Saturday mornings at the clay studio, playing in the mud and catching up with friends. After that will be Art for the Cash Poor (a little craft sale/music show here in Philadelphia) and a double header of roller derby with an old friend and two new ones. Sunday I’ll meet my beautiful mom to celebrate her birthday. I hope you have a lovely, restful weekend, Pia!

Usually my weekends are relatively quiet. However tomorrow, after breakfast with my father, I am heading to a barbeque with a whole bunch of my college classmates at my good friend’s beautiful 1890s rowhouse in Upper Manhattan… sort of an unofficial Purchase College reunion, very many years after we graduated. Hopefully Sunday will include tea and conversation with a very close friend. Enjoy your weekend!

a cancelled camping trip means a whole (!!!!!) long weekend to myself with no plans! my warm bed (it’s cold here in Aus!), lots of cups of tea, a few choice magazines (Inside Out, Donna Hay… say no more!) and i’ve rented Roman Holiday with Ms Hepburn. Can’t tell you how excited i am for this weekend!
Hope you get a few moments of rest over your weekend… sounds like you need it! xx

thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and wanderings and snapshots – so stunning! i love your books! and i love reading your blog!
and here’s my weekend: i will join the word wide knitting day in public with some friends & kids (my son is six years old and can crochet a little bit, but playing football is much more interesting…) and to chatter, to laugh and – for sure: to knit.
and i do hope to find enough time for reading my books and relax a little bit (and breath in & out, too) in our garden, watch the birds and flowers (& play football…) & knit a little bit.
have a great weekend, too! and a lot of magic moments!

I’ll be working most of it..but that doesn’t help does it! You work in lovely surroundings, that makes all the difference, non?

Hoping that Collingwood will win, but not certain because my cat picked against them in the tipping competition. Having coffee with my husband, trying to ignore the round of scans, tests, treatments, and oncologist appointments that is coming up next week.
I prefer to look at your flowers (love the peonies by the window with the string) & piles of books – I have that Angela Carter fairy tales collection, have you tried her Bloody Chamber? Vintage does a pretty edition.

This weekend I’m going to help my 5 year old assemble his art project for school. It’s a collage about trees. He’s taken his own photos of bare trees and fallen leaves & collected bark and leaves to stick on. I love to see his perspective on things!
A lovely project for us as we huddle inside from the Melbourne winter – think I’ll make a batch of bikkies too!
Congrats on the book! I stop by here often for a little inspiration – thank you Pia

I’m cheekily reading all my favourite blogs as it’s quiet now, everyone’s off snowboarding! Fancy drinks tonight with my man, and back to work tomorrow

These photos are beautiful. And your life really does sound enviable ๐
Nothing to be envious at my end – working on this miserable, rainy Saturday. Would much rather be curled up on the couch with a good book! Have a great weekend.

A weekend indulging in simple pleasures…lunch at an old English pub (well…as English as you can find on the Gold Coast!) with family, some sweet celebrations (a certain little book has been requested – I can hardly wait!), capturing the moments, laughing, day dreaming…
I hope you find just a few minutes to breathe…in and out! And day dream…

Cheers coming from the TV room as I type… no pink and frilly things here. Your images are gorgeous, dreamy… I can’t believe how pretty your ‘ship’ is… it’s a fairytale. A-M xx

I’m in Cape Town (live here) LOVING the World Cup! we had beautiful weather and it’s the middle of winter! Last night I watched the bafana bafana match, close to the Green Point stadium, then along with 68000 other fans, walked and danced and blew vuvuzelas along the “fan walk” through cape town city centre to the fan park on the grand parade and watched the fireworks! Tonight more football & PARTY!!! Cape Town has always been one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but now it’s even better!! I have never been so proud to be South African!!!!!

I spend my weekend with friends and family ( spend the evings in the kitchen, baking, pots and cookingbooks )
Love your blog and every time I visit it, my heart aces a bit..I used to have a house boat in Utrecht and missing it every day. Somehow, visiting your blog always makes me think of you as the girl who still lives on a houseboat.

I spent the day mending some of my clothes (by hand, as my sewing machine is broken) while listening to Arvo Part and the rain. Tonight I will go and see some friends perform at a dance festival. Tomorrow, breakfast with friends, catching up on my reading, and probably a little housework too.
Congratulations on the new book. It looks wonderful. I hope you get a bit of rest.

Firstly those shots are just beautiful …. I hope you can get a chance for a bit of down time, quite an exciting but exhausting time for you at the moment I would presume.
Me, I have just arrived home from a weekend in Melbourne. Really lovely, saw a wonderful play, a bit of shopping, lots of walking and eating and photographed some amazing street art (such great street art in Melbourne) ….. now I am glad to be home, and look forward to a bit of a relaxing Monday, Queens Birthday long weekend here, so a bit of an easy one on the cards. Hope the rest of your weekend is nice.XXX

Beautiful photos as usual! I am exhausted but had a great Sunday. Went to the farmers’ market and then to the Getty Center in West L.A. to see the da Vinci exhibit (amazing little drawings) then sat outside there and had a tea. Good day. Hope your week is great! (if busy…)
June 14th, 2010 | #
these photos are beautiful. i love the light in the one at the kitchen sink! hope things are slowing down a bit for you now – you’ve worked hard for a long time on your book and it sounds like you really need to unwind.
re living vicariously: i’m not quite sure you’d want to switch with me right now… this weekend i taught argentine tango whilst nursing a cold – not the perfect combination when the class included giving a 30 min presentation/workshop on understanding the music! *cough* tomorrow and wednesday: concerts with my piano students and their parents, siblings, friends, grandparents… *cough more* let’s switch next weekend instead!

Went to do a presentation on a symposium on saturday, we went out on our bicycles sunday morning (we have our best talks when we wander through this land on our bicycles)Chopped wood in the afternoon (love chopping wood) and put the video of the new installation online today.
Somehow managing to do the difficult job stuff, and the most relaxing stuff and the freaking scary stuff in just three days..
๐
Hope you had a good weekend!

We had a long weekend in Aus… the Queen’s B-Day (minus WA).
Sat – Early morning farmer’s market visit to pick up some delicious Southern Highland forest mushrooms, fresh pasta making around 10am, late home cooked lunch with hubby and friends on the back deck (with the heater out, as Canberra is feeling winter right about now!)- using said pasta and mushrooms, and a jaunt to the Cinema to see the Aussie film ‘Animal Kingdom’ in the evening.
Sun – Some early morning chicken stock making, a mid morning walk around Lake Burley Griffin with hubby, a visit to my favorite deli for some much needed cheese, Creme de Cauliflower soup with Parsley Oil and Crusty Garlic Bread for lunch (with said bought cheese), some general mending of work clothes in the early afternoon, the lighting of candles and fireplace ritual in mid afternoon, and jazz and cook book reading into the evening with hubby.
Mon – Another early morning walk around the lake, general mid morning gardening in the wintery sun, coffee and lunch with friends (again on the back deck), some much needed afternoon writing on my novel, late dinner with Hubby and cuddles on the lounge infront of the fireplace to follow.
๐
It was a good one. Hope yours was too.

Hi Pia – congrats on your book launch. Just want to say I love your blog – the photos and the writing. I’ve been really taken by the flower photos lately. I was wondering if you would mind if I did some paintings based on your peony photos…?
