Yesterday I said I would show you my first origami crane, and here it is! When I say my first I mean my first ‘pretty’ one, there are of course a table full of not so perfect ones. Now that I know how to make them, I’m a little addicted. It’s rather meditative, and I find it’s a really nice way to take a little moment in the day to unwind. It’s certainly a day enhancing activity, that is for sure.
I made my origami crane from this photo featured in Paris: Made By Hand, which I printed onto recycled paper…
The crane is lovely, and the photo is magical!

Oh how lovely — you did a fantastic job incorporating the design into the folding — love the green petal neck!!!
I do love to make these and have not done so in a long time. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Pia, its lovely to see what you have posted. Reading your blog is actually very calming, rather like a form of visual yoga. The ambience runs counter to so much of this contemporary world… and one can focus on something exquisite, even humble and be stilled!
This is a beautiful flower…i was trying to identify it…
best wishes from sunny Qld!

Pia that is so pretty. One day I want to be able to say that I’ve folded 1000 paper cranes. I would like to thank you for recommending “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society”. I know it was i while ago but I was just able to track it down now. I loved the book and have passed it on to my Mum.

I love the cranes. I’ve made drillions and drillions for all sorts of things. Some are still hanging in friends houses, on ratty pieces of cotton.

What a sweet crane. I’ve heard making them is kind of therapeutic. And when you end up with something so nice, how could it not be?
