They are so beautiful while they sleep, I don’t dare to wake them up…
Technically they’re not asleep, but I just can’t part with them yet.

I always keep my flowers a few days past their prime — it’s a whole different look, no?

So lovely, but a little bit sad too. Gorgeous photos though. I just planted sweet peas in the garden yesterday — one of my favourite flowers.

adrienne, are you from tofino? I love tofino!! sorry if these ‘sleeping’ blooms make you sad. to make you smile, watch the clip i posted below from flight of the concords.
helen – me too. 1. because i’m lazy. 2. because they are still incredibly beautiful. I only part with them once they’ve grown mould. sometimes even then i can’t let them go.
clare -thank you!!
nath – oh that’s the perfect word for them, thank you!

Sweet. Get it? Reminded me, I must check how mine are getting along. I threw them into the ground just before a wee road trip earlier this month and it’s been wet and dark every evening I’ve got home since. This weekend I am home and will tend to the garden. Plenty of weeds to compost and the sweet peas to start on their skyward climb.

Yes, Pia, I live in lovely Tofino. You’ve been here? (I fixed the link in my blog so you can see some pics of how it’s looking today.) And, no worries, your photos did not make me sad. It’s sunny today and I’ve sweet peas growing in the garden! What could make me sad? Seriously, the photos were gorgeous if a bit melancholic, but that’s okay. Now I will look at “dead” blooms in a new way.

I love it! I also find it hard to part with flowers when they “sleep”. I have been contemplating pressing them like I did in school.
