Peonies are my favorite! I have a fat bunch of them on my desk at home, and they’ve been distracting me from a very rainy, gray week. I love all of these pics, but if I have to choose a favorite, I would pick the second from the top.

All just so, so lovely. My favourite is second from the top as well. 🙂

my favorite flower- they’re so sweet and natural. your blog is such a warm, cozy place to visit. i wish i could stay.
May 8th, 2009 | #
Oh I love peonies. I may have to hunt some down and treat myself after my exams.
May 8th, 2009 | #
Oh and PS. I like the pink one in the tea cup best 🙂
May 8th, 2009 | #
i’m partial to photo #2. both flowers capture the light so well, and their vessels are a good balance of simple and fancy.
May 8th, 2009 | #
they are my absolute favorite as well, and sometimes very hard to come by here in Austin, since it’s too warm to grow them well! i vote for the 2nd from top, as well: it’s nice to see the detail of those voluminous petals and the contrast of the 2 colors, shapes, and heights!

i can’t decide either. they’re all beautiful!

Is this you, playing piano? How lovely…. Listening to it at my work in San Francisco.. actually makes me feel like i’m out there with the sun. Thank you.

The pink in the tea cup, a glass of cusquena, playing Ruben Gonzalez.

I think that the set of four are simply perfect!
May 8th, 2009 | #
my fav photo is of the three together – the most beautiful of the three (to me )is the pink peony sitting in the teacup.
May 8th, 2009 | #
I like the second and third the best – they have a rhythm and a balance that works.
May 8th, 2009 | #
I love peonies so naturally all of them. I think I prefer the 2nd one. I feel as though I’m almost there in your wonderful home with my glass of vin rouge. Cheers!
May 8th, 2009 | #
I love them all but probably the second one too i like things simple, this reminds me of how beautiful life can be.

Oh, they are all so beautiful! I can’t pick just one. Peonies are one of my favourite flowers. I bet they smell pretty?
For our wedding, I collected lots of beautiful pieces to use for vases; ceramic milk bottles, teacups, bowls, etc and had them placed all along the middle of the table. They were filled with roses, lisianthus, and freesias. They looked beautiful, but they had the most beautiful scent. I have a picture, I think you will really love it Pia. http://swishandswanky.blogspot.com/2008/09/made-with-love.html

Gosh I have trouble choosing too – I think the post would have been the lesser for it if you didn’t share them all – the perfect single stem sucked me in and the images bloomed until that final one – my absolute fave – the way that little white vase looks a little transparent – that one’s a keeper. x Congrats again on the book- what an achievement!

I love peonies too; I hope the two bushes I planted in my garden produce blooms soon!
My favourite is number 3 🙂
May 8th, 2009 | #
I like the 2nd photograph best.
I can never find peonies here. It’s very weird!
May 8th, 2009 | #
Lovley! That vase/flask whit that pink shimmer is just gorgeous. Photo nr 3 appeals most to me! Have a nive weekend!

They are really beautiful. We have Peonies in my garden. Seeing the first signs of them in the ground means spring had begun! It is such wonder to see them grow so fast.
May 8th, 2009 | #
Bugger! I was going to buy you celebratory peonies, but looks like you beat me to it! I can’t wait til they’re 10 for €5 so I can fill every vase I own with them.
May 8th, 2009 | #
Absolutely charming! There is nothing like a single peony blossom in a pretty vase to brighten the day. We have had nothing but rain in New York all week so this post put a smile on our faces. Thank you!
May 8th, 2009 | #
I think 3 flowers look best. The darker closed bloom completes the composition, imo.
May 8th, 2009 | #
Second from the left! And the last one! Pretty, pretty, pretty!
May 8th, 2009 | #
just enjoyed it with my morning coffee, thank you~
May 8th, 2009 | #
i love both flowers on the second photo.
May 8th, 2009 | #
I have to say the big pink peony is my favourite one. Love that soundscape. 🙂 Perfect for morning.
May 8th, 2009 | #
I think one or three flowers in the photo. (contrast, composition) Love peonies! I have one on my kitchen table right now…
May 8th, 2009 | #
Oh, definitely the teacup!
May 9th, 2009 | #
I love them all but the pink in the tea cup is my fav!
May 9th, 2009 | #
Pia, your food photography is so good, and its much harder to pull off than it might seem to some.
Also love your still lifes.
Congrats on the books release and the feature in Design*Sponge!
May 9th, 2009 | #
btw, i prefer the shot with two flowers, not sure why as it seems that the od number shot work best, but there it is.
May 9th, 2009 | #
ummm…i prefer them all…but editing is not my strong point when confronted with equally beautiful images…
(oh and i just bought myself your book today. happy birthday to me. (not my birthday but whatever. very excited to receive it!)

May 11th, 2009 | #
I love the tea cup with the pink one…so girlie 🙂
May 11th, 2009 | #
Yes three is meant to be the magic number, but it’s the similar pink in that gorgeous background, the pink of the vase, the pink reflected in the shelf and then of course that gorgeous pink peonie, that sends your eye on walkabout – my heaven for a peonie!
May 14th, 2009 | #
Thank you for the music.
It carried me away to the tranquility of your watery Amsterdam home, the gentle rocking, the sunlight and the swans. Beautiful.
