While last Friday I was smacked to the ground by a taxi, this Friday my hands have been drawn by the sensational Esti! What a wonderful day it is!! Yes these are my hands, enhanced and decorated by Esti. I am in awe of her drawings, and I feel pretty special that she has interpreted my hands in this way – look at the swimming fish in the detail. Wow.
I must admit, I was pretty reluctant to send an outline of my hands as when I drew them, I felt like I was giving away a piece of my soul. I am super conscious of my hands, for so many reasons. One being that my fingers are quite long and even though my mother always said how wonderful that was, I always felt like a bit of a freak. But even if I did give a piece of my soul away to Esti, she just gave it right back to me, and that piece is more beautiful and unique now than it ever was.

Thank you Esti, you have totally made my day.

Well folks, I am about to jump on my bike again for the first time since I had the accident. I am pretty scared, to be truthful. I didn’t think it had affected me so much but apparently it has. But today there is no more procrastinating as I have so much work to do, I’ve sort of piled it all up into one day, the last day of the week, and now I have to race around and pick up samples and props for next weeks shoots. i feel like a bit of a baby, being so reluctant to get on the bike. But here goes nothin’. Wish me luck out there!!
Beautiful, the “Hand Interpretation” (is it how this form of art is called?)!

Pia- I know it is scary, but you are a pro at riding and in till then it had been a daily thing for you to do. Your good at it pia and you will be fine- do not second guess yourself! Breathe!

one of the first things i notice about people is their eyes and hands…so important. and it is quite lovely that esti does this…what an honour to be asked as well. oh and pia…everything will be fine :)…now you just have to be more of a defensive driver/bike rider…

your hands look beautiful. Don’t feel self conscious about your long finger. I have short fingers and would love to have long ones like yours. I was also stepped on by an ice skate when I was very young so my pinkie on my right hand is horribly disfigured. Good luck getting on your bike for the first time. They do say that you aren’t a true rider until you have taken a fall but I would like to think that is unnecessary. You are so brave to get back on again.

wishing you safe riding 🙂

You have lovely hands :-). Long fingers are good. I know how you feel about getting back on the bike. I had a car accident a few years ago where a car came out of no where and hit me(I had the right of way) It took me a couple years to stop flinching when ever a car came at me from the side. I know you will do well and slowly get over the fear, it is natural to be afraid after something like that happens. Blessing on you today :-).

Good luck with the cycling after the accident. You are bound to feel overcautious in the beginning, that is natural. Go with it, and the angst will eventually be replaced by the old self-confidence. Happy riding!

We had our house broken into once, many years ago. I was afraid it would happen again. Finally, my husband said, “What are the chances of it happening ONCE? Statistically speaking, it can never happen again.”
I found that strangely comforting.
You’ve had your bike accident. Go bravely forth…
