let’s go back to Paris, for the moment…

I know it’s not the houseboat, but I just like this photo of the Paris apartment. I took this shot one night after coming home from shopping, I think I had just bought that fern and candles. You can see the remnants of nibblies and a bottle of wine on the coffee table – a little apΓ©ritif before preparing dinner.

Truth is everyone, I did plan to post a more substantial piece for you today, but I just had a bike accident. I am okay. More shocked than anything else. And I have a few flesh wounds. I was on my way home and as I crossed an intersection a taxi driver came from nowhere and knocked me down. I actually don’t know who’s ‘fault’ it was, I really thought I had looked, and the driver said it was his fault but I was a bit out of it. When all the bikes behind me stopped to help me up, I had no idea what language they were speaking. And then finally after a few seconds I realised, “oh yeah, that’s right it’s Dutch!’. It was all pretty embarrassing. I came home and had a good cry. But I’m okay now. I think a good nights rest is what I need. Hope you all had a lovely day!

xx

I’m so sorry about your bike accident. That happened to me and I cried like a baby in the arms of a complete stranger! It’s all very scary and discombobulating. Hope this weekend brings lovely things for you.

    Your blog is wonderful.

Hope your doing fine now Pia. What’s happening between taxi drivers and bycicles in Holland ???? It’s the third time I read a taxi driver bumped into a cyclist, in a few weeks (http://siagrafica.visualblogging.com/archives/8164_1865035254/293616 ).
I’m sure the same thing is going to start happening in Paris soon since we have the VeloLib now.

Wonderful atmosphere in that appartement Pia πŸ™‚

oh god! this happened to me before in melbourne… so sorry to hear! I cried a lot too and it helped. I also went and had a relaxing massage 2 days later (not something I do very often)and realized that my whole body was still carrying all the tension and shock from the accident! maybe that will help you to release it too. take care

Oh goodness, hope you’re ok. I had a similar experience last year in Amsterdam (don’t laugh, but I was literally “hit by a bus”!). The only upside is that in NL, the law is that the driver of the vehicle/bus/motorbike is always at fault if they hit a cyclist. God forbid, but if you’ve suffered any bodily/material damage the taxi insurance company should contact you to make claims etc. Get well and stay safe.

Dear Pia – Drink some hot rooibos tea with a little honey or muscavado sugar, have a good rest, and get better soon! (If you banged your head – get it checked out by a doctor.) But rooibos tea will help the general aches and pains! x Anairam

Accidents with taxi drivers… yikes. I think we had our fair share for this year.

    Take care,
