Before I get on my self-indulgent week of celebrations, I implore you to ALL to head over to Beverly’s Afropolitan blog. This morning she has posted about a guy who has just filled my heart with hope, it is overflowing actually, and all because he created a windmill from backyard scraps! THIS is what I call handmade, what a champion – this guy is our future!! And he has not even half of the wealth of one of us. I am jumping out of my skin with excitement and inspiration and I just had to share it with you. Go and take a look at the video, post a comment, and while you are there, read the article called “Africans to Bono: ‘For God’s sake please stop!'” from The American. BRILLIANT article. IMISO!

Dear Pia, thank you SO MUCH for keeping Kenya on your blog and on everyone’s mind! To answer the question you left on my blog: yes, I spent my childhood and teenage years (until age 15) around the world, as my dad was a business man. I lived in countries that are too often in the news these days (Iran, Iraq, China) but it’s during my 2 years in Kenya that I was happiest by far! I too, love Berverly’s super smart blog. I’m planning a little tribute to Kenya on my blog in the days to come…
(In a comment on my blog you said that next time you were on the Paris Metro you would look for Benjy; I hope you’ll also look for ME: email me next time you come to Paris and we’ll get together!!!)

Right On! to that article re/Bono and Co. Having grown up in Africa, I know its other, dynamic face and could go on and on about this (but won’t:)
Thanks Pia!

Thanks for the love Pia! I really was inspired by William Kamkwamba as well. As we say in Africa, “He will go far”
