Well folks, after carting that cardboard creation across Northern Europe, I’m beat.

Thankfully it’s Friday and I think, for the first time in I don’t know how many weekends I am going to put my hand up and ‘just say no’. I am going to strive for a work-free weekend. I know, I know, there will be repercussions come Monday. But, I need the break. And also, I’m thinking “when in Rome, do as the Romans do” or in this case, the Northern Europeans – the Amsterdammers (and Parisians)(not to mention Italians) seem to just disappear for weeks on end in August – they shut up their shops, they leave their work, they leave all their responsibilities and just declare vacation. It’s something I find rather peculiar since these are two international cities but you know, whatever…

I will not be following suit and declaring vacation unfortunately as I have alot on and next week will be a killer, BUT, I think a work-free weekend is in order. What do you think?

Shall I don my summer dresses? Get out my straw hat? Put paper umbrellas in my ice tea and put my feet up?

I will still have to clean, sort, and tidy though as I have completely neglected my household duties over the last few weeks and the boat is unsightly, and barely livable.

Next week I want to tell you what I got up to in Paris each day I was there. I took lots of photos… some I will share here, some I will save for an upcoming project. I also bought something that I have been dying to show you, it’s been so inspiring for me.

I wonder what you will be doing this weekend? Any plans? Whatever you get up to mes chers amis, have a beautiful weekend.

xx

Your pictures are gorgeous! Especially love the lavander shot. 🙂

I think you should totally take the weekend off!!!

I’m off to NYC for the weekend. Moved away a year ago and this is the 1st time I’ve returned. Going to some Yankees games, will stroll through Central Park, and will eat at some fabulous restaurants.

    Enjoy your work-free weekend. Bisous!

Yes yes yes you should put your feet up this weekend 🙂 I make a point to relegate the weekend to me-time, even if that means cleaning and watching movies. Enjoy!

summer dresses + paper umbrellas are a weekend must 🙂 work-free weekends should be mandatory in the summer, or at the very least, for the month of august — have a lovely weekend, pia!

I think a big bowl of blueberries and something sweet is compulsory for your rest weekend.
Love the eye candy of Paris (or should that be street candy?) that you have kindly shared with us – it’s very sweet image-fuel for all us French devotees.
Always inspiring to know how much you can elegantly pack into a day, Pia. Hope you enjoy your much-deserved time-out.

Take the weekend off. Sneak into someone’s garden, put your feet up and eat their strawberries and tomatoes, make yourself a cup of tea…pretend you live there.
    Thank you.

Hooray for weekends off! Definitely good idea to recharge and put your feet up. I’m taking the day off today too. One of my dear friends is leaving NY so she has planned a picnic in the park. I can’t remember the last time I took a day off to hang out like this. I promised to make blueberry-cherry pie. mmmmm…hey! why don’t you join us for a slice? xoxox

    what fun weekends.
i have been a bit spoilt with my week so this weekend is the start of work.
going off for my french-style month abroad next sunday, so this weekend i am busy preparing to leave the tropical bali heat for the cold melbourne winter.
business plans, financials, bar designs, and the rather enviable task of spending a sunday counting traffic outside the site [you know you’re jealous].
luckily the preparations in the week include: topping up my tan, massages and mani-pedis. so it’s not all bad.
p.s. can’t wait for the paris indulgence. youpi!

Hi Pia, Just wondering if you’ve ever been diagnosed with ADD because you seem very ADD to me – impulsiveness, scatterbrained, impatience, highly creative, starts new ‘projects’ all the time… Not having a go, because I’m the same. Might be something to look into.

Hi, just wanted to write that I enjoy reading your blog… Since I am a Dutch girl, I find it funny to see what is so peculiar and beautiful about my country… Those holidays, you know, are school holidays and so called “construction holidays” and then it seems as if half the population of the Netherlands has gone missing. But you know, a bit of sunshine, a bit of holiday and they are good to go until Christmas…

Such beautiful pictures as always Pia and I hope you enjoyed your weekend off. I’m sure you deserve more than just those two days!
I have to admit though, that it drives me mad that I can never get hold of my Parisian and Roman colleagues in August – all off celebrating Ferragosto apparently!!
