Before I kick my current guests out of the guest quarters (joking about the kicking, they have been the best of guests! although rather quiet, I am sad to bid them bon voyage), I wanted to leave you with a story of shots Michelle and I worked on together a little while ago. It is an old church hall in Sydney converted into a loft home and photographic studio. So much fun to play in I can tell you – the owners had many beautiful old treasures for me to work with. My favourites were the grammophone, the old dial up phone and the owners fabulous array of framed photographs.
I also wanted to dedicate this post to Jo at Desire to Inspire – Jo just so kindly gave up a number of her secret treasure troves in her home town for me as I needed the sources for an upcoming shoot. So these shots are for you Jo, hope you find some inspiration from them, and I have attached a little living treasure for you at the bottom!
You do realise that I am going to have to kill you now that I’ve revealed my sources! Thanks for the shout out. You’re making me blush.

desire to inspire mentioned you’re looking for vintage/antique shops in melbourne, oz for your article… as a melbourne gal living in amsterdam i’m a bit out of touch with the hots spots in melb, BUT a couple of my all time favs are “empire vintage” (http://www.empirevintage.com.au) and the “chapel street bazaar” (lots of great retro stuff, appearance is of one great antique collectible shop but it’s actually lots of individual stalls). have a squiz..can really recommend them both. good luck!

Thanks 60sqd, I totally forgot about Lyn at Empire, thanks! I will make a note of those two mentions, and I just remembered there is a street in Melbourne, St Kilda isn’t it, that is full of awesome secondhand and antique boutiques, do you remember? You have reminded me how much I adore Melbourne!

Pia – dont forget all the antique shops in Armadale Road in near Glenferrie Rd. they have a market there ( actaully one each side of the road.)
Also theres a Pegusus antiques in Geelong just near the Barown bridge off the Princes Highway.
Theres also an Antiques market in Ballarat – cant remember the name – but it’s in the main part of town.
Theres also a place in …. Essendon Len , Len Len ummm cant remember last name?? – tho he does mainly Danish these days – but his wife up the street does deco and his daughter has a shop in Rathdown St Carlton…..
You could try leonard Joels in South Yarra (off commercial Rd ??) but they have to be having an auction.
Cant think of many more at the moment – lots are going out of business because of the 60’s revival, and french antique craze at the moment. The best one I was going to recommend is no longer…..
