Well, that’s it folks, I am going to sign off on my “one year in Amsterdam” anniversary celebrations, I do hope you’ve enjoyed my personal tour but there is SO much more I want to share with you! <\/p>\n

Amsterdam is full of fabulousness, I now realise I can’t possibly squeeze it all in one week. So I will continue posting about little walks, wanders, discoveries and personal moments over time as usual. For those of you planning to visit Amsterdam<\/a> at some point in your life, be sure to check out my Amsterdam category<\/a> before you head in this direction, it will make your trip that much more intimate than following a guided map. One day I’d love to write a book about my favourite shops and experiences here. One fine day, as I always say!<\/p>\n

Here is a quick list of more things I love to do in Amsterdam…<\/p>\n

A Few Favourite Wanders:<\/p>\n

  • \nup and down the Prinsengracht<\/a>. Any and all time of year. Any and all time of day. <\/li>\n
  • The nine streets<\/a>. Zig zagging my way through these treasure-filled streets is a favourite wander when I have the time. <\/li>\n
  • Utrechtsestraat<\/a> – start at Rembrandtsplein and wander down – there are heaps of great boutiques and cafes & Sissy Boy Homeland<\/a> just opened up there too. <\/li>\n
  • The Haarlemmerdijk<\/a>. This is a great street to wander along after coming from Centraal Station. <\/li>\n

    A Few Favourite Bars:<\/p>\n

  • Any brown caf\u00c3\u00a9<\/a> – these are traditional Dutch bars, you can tell them apart from the rest by their dark wood interiors and casual atmosphere. This is where the locals go – you will see them everywhere so be sure to at least have a drink in one or two while you visit! <\/li>\n

    A Few Favourite Eateries:<\/p>\n

  • \nVooges<\/a>. You’ll find me there often with French Boy, having a drink at the bar after work or enjoying a meal upstairs with friends. The service is great, and the food is delicious and seasonal. <\/li>\n
  • De Drie Vrienden<\/a> (the three friends) on Frans Halsstraat – great service, and a good seasonal menu. I’ve been here plenty of times and it has been fabulous everytime. <\/li>\n
  • Small World Cafe<\/a> – a perfect place to stop for lunch after a wander along the Haarlemmerdijk<\/a>! <\/li>\n

    Happy one year anniversary my dear friend, thanks for having me and I do hope we get to share many more wonderful times together (but in the meantime, could you do something about the weather? I’d be much obliged).<\/p>\n
