We have just enough time to sneak a peek at the windows of the very grand <a href=\"http:\/\/www.galerieslafayette.com\/international\/index.do\"target=\"_blank\" >Galeries Lafayette<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/2007\/12\/22\/christmas-mini-trips-part-4\/149\/' rel='attachment wp-att-149' title='paris5.jpg'><img src='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/paris5.jpg' alt='paris5.jpg' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the most majestic sights to see in Paris at Christmas time, both the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps department stores are lit up in strong competition with their sister <em>la tour eiffel<\/em>. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>(not to ruin the fantasy of our mini trips together but i must be honest and let you know i am showcasing last years windows and not this years &#8211; it is actually impossible to be in two countries at once&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/2007\/12\/22\/christmas-mini-trips-part-4\/151\/' rel='attachment wp-att-151' title='paris1.jpg'><img src='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/paris1.jpg' alt='paris1.jpg' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I love this window display&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/2007\/12\/22\/christmas-mini-trips-part-4\/152\/' rel='attachment wp-att-152' title='paris2.jpg'><img src='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/paris2.jpg' alt='paris2.jpg' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The detail is extraordinary. And the looseness and wildness of it all I adore. It is a mix of umatchable sophisication in presenting apparel by the top French couturiers, and combining it with &#8216;stuff&#8217;: Peacock feathers in the hair, sand and dirt on the ground, and Mr Spaceman happily perched on such a fine gown, and such an elegant mannequin. And then add another layer of life and you get this piece of pure art&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/2007\/12\/22\/christmas-mini-trips-part-4\/153\/' rel='attachment wp-att-153' title='paris3.jpg'><img src='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/paris3.jpg' alt='paris3.jpg' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Live mixed media at it&#8217;s finest. Unfortunately I have forgotten the name of the stylist who created these beautiful displays, but if I come across them again I will let you know and no doubt display more of his or her work&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/2007\/12\/22\/christmas-mini-trips-part-4\/158\/' rel='attachment wp-att-158' title='paris10.jpg'><img src='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/paris10.jpg' alt='paris10.jpg' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/2007\/12\/22\/christmas-mini-trips-part-4\/159\/' rel='attachment wp-att-159' title='paris11.jpg'><img src='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/paris11.jpg' alt='paris11.jpg' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/2007\/12\/22\/christmas-mini-trips-part-4\/160\/' rel='attachment wp-att-160' title='paris12.jpg'><img src='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/paris12.jpg' alt='paris12.jpg' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These window displays have been a source of inspiration for me, I hope that you can find something inspiring in them too. <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it, we have to dash people! But quick lets cross the road and gaze up under the Printemps <em>avant-toits<\/em> full of chinese lanterns, and grab a taxi past the sparkling <em>tour eiffel<\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/2007\/12\/22\/christmas-mini-trips-part-4\/155\/' rel='attachment wp-att-155' title='parislast.jpg'><img src='http:\/\/archives.piajanebijkerk.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/parislast.jpg' alt='parislast.jpg' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oh but halt! I have a very special secret place to take you before we leave. Now this little gem I&#8217;ve been keeping to myself for a long time, but since it is Christmas and it is a time for sharing, let&#8217;s say <em>au revoir<\/em> to the city of lights in style with a glass of <em>Taittinger<\/em> at my most favourite place in Paris: the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.concorde-lafayette.com\/en\/dining\/dining03.aspx\"target=\"_blank\" >Panoramic Bar <\/a>at the Concorde Lafayette.
