(blog)house news in bullet points
Posted in paris, recent work May 2nd, 2008 by piablog

La Pipelette in me has surfaced. I am pouring a big pot of tea for you and have some cookies awaiting your arrival. But to save boredom setting in early with my passionate ranting, I am writing with bullet points…

  • I am not a press photographer… but today I am. In Paris, if you happen to be there, pick up a copy of Le Parisien, scroll through to page ten and see a photograph I took of Frederic Minvielle just yesterday – I may now be addicted to the immediacy of this form of print as I only took the shots yesterday morning. Read Frederic’s story here and here (in French).
  • I am completely stoked to learn that I have won this painting! It is titled “City Talk” and is by New Mexican artist Sage Moon McKee. Thanks Lynne and Sage for holding such an awesome competition. -it is so cool to think that I have named this beautiful piece, and what a fabulous talking point! When I receive the work I will take a photo of it in my home.

  • A big thank you to Kim and Jo at Desire to Inspire for posting about my Paris Chic styling story from Home Beautiful recently. Months ago I had asked Jo if she had any store contacts I could mention in the article and she was more than helpful with revealing some of her secret sources, and so were many of her readers. I’m not sure if any of the contacts made it to the final story but thank you everyone who sent me information about their favourite French vintage stores in Australia.
  • Another big thank you to Nyla at Cherry Coloured for also posting about the Home Beautiful spread. I can’t tell you how much it means to me. It’s hard to express how hard I work on these productions, and this story is the first one I have ever produced, styled, and photographed all in one. It might not seem much of a big deal to some, but for me it is, and I hope it to be the beginning of many more to come. So thank you to all my blogger friends and supporters – you guys are the ones that keep me going and inspire me to continue with my work – amongst all the rejections and things happening that deflate my creative soul, it is you I turn to to pick me right back up again. You rock. I will post some extra shots and info about the story very soon.
  • Jo from Little Yellow Bird has her thesis exhibition right now in Massachusetts – if you live near by please go visit her and if you don’t then send her all your best wishes by leaving a comment on her blog. She has worked so hard and I adore her work, she is one talented gal!!
  • And last but not least, I have been indulging in a few late night (blog)drinks lately with new blogger and super fun (blog)neighbour A-M – tonight she has made some tapas on the terrace so come and say hello, welcome A-M to the neighbourhood and join us for a few glasses of bubbly!
  • phew. i am pipelette-d out. xx

thank you! and stacy, thank you so much for covering the story and letting me know, I’m super pleased you found inspiration in the pics!! Yes Sofia, Frederic’s story is rather huge now, it seems to have gained momentum which is wonderful. I am now told that the French government have said he will get his citizenship back next year as France and Holland are in the process of changing the rules – will believe it when i see it! xx

Aw, thank you so much for the mention, Pia! I can only imagine how much time and effort goes into the (independent) production of such a fabulous spread. It’s a HUGE accomplishment. And, I’m sure this is only the beginning of MANY more inspired creations yet to come! xox n
