beautiful cover, beautiful title and subtitle. from joining the Peace Corps almost 50 years ago and decades onward, suddenly you’ve said what I’ve been trying to do but couldn’t name. Thank you. Many ask me how to be happy in “old age” , hmrph. I think the key is to be happy in your “young age”, i.e. take risks, let go, create and appreciate your home wherever you are…..and I’d add: really be where you are…stop listening to music from home on ipod, texting friends “from home”. Be where you are.

p.s this is just the right amount of snow for a Florida Christmas !

I found your blog through Janet Blyberg. I hope you find the time and energy to continue with it soon, as it is fabulous. I limit my blog to three posts per week, that seems to work and prevents it from becoming a burden. I love your ‘eye’, the handmade, wabi-type aesthetic.

    Dear Pia
How beautiful! I didn’t realise how much we have in common – a restless spirit, appreciation for a certain beauty, a loathing of mass consumerism – and a book coming out early next year! Yours in April, mine in May!

If you’re coming downunder soon, please let me know so we can meet up perhaps.

A late Merry C and an early HNY Pia.

I’m looking forward to it. Paris, Made by Hand lives by my bedside. I love it, and it’s a constant source of inspiration. I’m always interested in and distracted by ideas of home, place, what it means to feel at home (or not feel at home), especially when moving around and being torn between wanting to feel settled and also free at the same time. My heart wanders to these thoughts 🙂 PS. I’ll be going to Amsterdam for my first visit this May, and we’ll stay on a houseboat, and I can’t wait.

What a coincidence…I was just talking with my friend about our homes and how we don’t make them 100% our home since we never know when we will move again….I have lived away from Stockholm the last 18 years approx some here some there. And we also said that we will most likely never feel 100% at home if we never make a home out of our house. So….I would love to read your book!
