I read “giving directions in the street when someone asks! I don’t know why, but that totally makes smile afterwards” and I thought “thank God!”. That happens to me and I have always thought it was weird. Thanks Pia! 🙂

cocoa – i’m glad i’m not the only one, it totally makes me happy to give directions! (bad typo too with the ‘makes smile afterwards – obviously I meant ‘it makes ME smile afterwards’) When I see people looking at a map I have to hold back from jumping in and asking if they need help.

loved your list — i, too, feel a secret thrill when asked for directions on the street. makes me feel like i “really” live here even though i am not a native. and i agree it’s so great to walk down different streets and try walking down different sides of the street. it’s funny how just being across the street can give such a different perspective on a garden, house, park, etc. keep up the great work on your blog, it’s very enjoyable!
