attention sydney readers: a not-to-be-missed closing down sale
Posted in stores, sydney November 24th, 2008 by piablog

I have just been informed by the owner of one of my all-time favourite homeware boutiques in Sydney that she has decided to close down. Quel dommage!!

I speak of Très Fabu! in Northbridge – a place I would visit often for locating the most beautiful props for shoots, and walking out with a number of items for myself in the process. For me it was a destination stop, a wonderful space to wander through after a day of prop hunting in the city – I used to save Très Fabu! for the end of the day when I would be on my way home to the Northern Beaches. Walking through the antique filled rooms was such a calming treat and I always managed to find the best treasures there.

But, all good things come to an end unfortunately. Jenny Westrup has been selling her beautiful collection of french antiques, vintage ribbons, buttons, perfume bottles, fabrics, and jewellery on Sailors Bay road for 7 years now and has decided it is time to say au revoir. She has huge reductions on everything in store and the sale will be advertised this week in the Sydney Morning Herald. Jenny has offered her mailing list customers first dibs before the official advertising campaign, and has allowed me to extend that whisper on to you my dear readers. Jenny insists everything must go. So I say, go, everyone, go!! And be sure to tell me what you find. I’m jealous already.

Thank you Jenny, for your wonderful service throughout the years and for all your beautiful French inspired treasures. All the best for the new year xx

I understand how bittersweet it must be to close a shop, it looks SOOOOOOO beautiful and inspiring too! why is something as simple as colored-out jars of buttons so delectable?

Oh, I went to visit this little store. It was so lovely, it sat amongst a few other stores on such a cute shopping strip. If I can get over to the north of Sydney I will pay a visit before it’s gone. I will stock up on ribbons for christmas wrapping!
We just had one of the best vintage stores in Sydney close last month. Trousseau was on King St in Newtown and had an amazing range of unusual Edwardian and Victorian treasures. My best find was a Victorian silk and cotton crochet camisole top. It fits me perfectly and I bought it for $40.00!
Oh jill’s birdcages were to die for. She had the best eye and I was always surprised that she dug up such incredible treasures in Australia.

    Memories and Dust.
