it’s a hat. and i spotted it in the window of paris’ very first tibetan store which opened over 32 years ago. there are tibetan boutiques and restaurants all over paris, not to mention a fabulous collection of tibetan flags flying from haussman apartment windows all over town. i have had my camera handy and have been snapping shots of the flags at every opportunity. right now my friend tenpa is finishing a three day protest walk sans food, along with some of his fellow tibetans in australia. here is a little interview he did before the walk. i hope he is doing okay right now. meanwhile i am in paris eating my heart out. the world is a funny (not funny ha ha) place.
just watched your friend’s video. i hope you’ll post with an update. i admire his passion and dedication. yes, the world is a funny place (and sometimes actually funny ‘ha, ha’ too). thanks for sharing. and the little shop in paris looks dreamy!

Since you spoke of him in your blog I have taken an interest in him. What an exceptional human being. Please keep us updated. Eat some chocolate while in Paris.

thank you tyler and yoli. i will certainly keep an update going on the blog. these past two weeks i have been on an intense project and haven;t had a chance to post in more depth but i will soon. and yoli, i am certainly eating a good amount of chocolate. specifically mousse au chocolat. but my other sin is foie gras, i am addicted to it. in fact yesterday for lunch i had foie gras on toast, followed by a chocolate mousse. i’m sure someone will put me away for eating paris out of these ingredients.
oh dear, i need a dose of buddhism.

Hi Pia,
I wanted you to know that I saw the peace marchers on the news the other night, and they had arrived in Canberra safely, after marching for three days without food.
This issue is in our media A LOT right now, and the issue of China and Tibet is getting the attention it deserves.
It’s so good to hear people talking about this in the mainstream media after such a long time….
Cheers,
Leah (from Adelaide, Australia)

Really? I kept my eyes peeled for a Tibetan boutique because I need some things for an altar, but I saw only one off St. Germain (it was closed).
I ended up in Belleville in a flimsy boutique where the guy could order just about anything under the sun.

thank you leah, i’m so pleased, great comment.
mamashift all the tibetan boutiques are in montmatre – there are at least 3 that i know of, and i think there are even more. there are also a couple of tibetan restaurants there, my favourite is the one on rue lepic, next to the zebra cafe. they make the best momos!!
